Mauritius Visa Checker
The Mauritius visa checker compares a few answers about your plans with the published rules and lists the routes that fit what you entered: a visitor stay, the Premium Visa, an Occupation Permit, the Retired permit or the property route. It also shows near misses and what would need to change. It is a first filter, not an application: the Economic Development Board, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Passport and Immigration Office make the decisions.
Answer a few questions
It takes about a minute, and your answers stay in your browser. The checker does not ask for your nationality, because a passport can change whether you need a visa to enter and whether the Premium Visa is open to you. The result ends with a note on how to check that.

How the routes compare
These are the figures the checker uses, from the sources listed below. Each route name links to its guide.
| Route | What it needs | How long it lasts | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visitor stayA trip, or a look around before deciding |
| Set by the immigration officer on each visit. Official pages give 180 days a calendar year, or six months a year, as the most a visitor can have. | None. Visas and extensions are free. |
| Premium VisaRemote work for a business outside Mauritius |
| More than six months and up to one year. It can be renewed. | None. The Economic Development Board says it is issued free of charge. |
| Occupation Permit, ProfessionalEmployees with a job offer |
| Your contract term, up to 10 years. | Paid by the employer: USD 400 up to 2 years, USD 500 up to 3, USD 800 up to 5 and USD 1,000 up to 10. A non-refundable USD 50 application fee applies too. |

| In force while you own the property. The Invest Hotel guidelines say nothing on this. | A non-refundable Rs 25,000 processing fee for each purchase under a scheme, from the scheme guidelines; the guidelines for apartments name none. From 1 October 2026 the residence permit application also carries a prescribed fee, and we could not confirm the amount. |
| Permanent residenceA later step, after 5 years on a permit |
| 20 years, renewable for another 20. | We could not confirm the current fee. Ask the Residence Permit Section. |
Frequently asked questions
Does a result mean my application will be approved?
No. The checker compares your answers with the published rules and shows the routes that fit what you entered, plus the ones that would fit if something changed. It cannot see your documents or your history, and it is not an application. The Economic Development Board, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Passport and Immigration Office handle residence applications between them, and the immigration officer sets each visitor stay, so confirm with them before you spend money on a move.
Is there an income minimum for the Premium Visa?
We could not find one. The Economic Development Board page, its application checklist and the Passport and Immigration Office pages publish no income figure. The checklist asks for three months of bank statements and proof of monthly income but sets no amount. A figure quoted on another website has no official source that we could find, so ask the Board before you rely on it.
Can I work on a Premium Visa or as a visitor?
No, not for a Mauritian employer or business. A visitor cannot take employment, and the Ministry of Labour does not consider work permit applications from people on a tourist visa. The Premium Visa allows remote work for a business outside Mauritius, and working locally needs an Occupation Permit.
How long do these applications take?
We could not find a published processing time for the Premium Visa, an Occupation Permit or a visitor extension, so we do not give one. An Occupation Permit goes through the National E-Licensing System, where a Joint Committee assesses it and an Approval in Principle email follows. Ask the Economic Development Board for a current estimate before you plan dates around a decision.
